Now that we are (hopefully) getting close to getting licensed and a placement I've found something new to worry about.
DH and I both work for the state and I know we're entitled to FMLA not to mention we have lots of paid time off saved up. BUT neither of our jobs are amenable to us taking loads of time off at once.
Does anyone know how long working parents usually take off work to get a new placement settled in? It would probably be just me taking time off with DH maybe taking an hour or two here and there for appointments. We're planning on taking school age kiddoes.
I am a single mom and work fulltime. I have 3 adopted kiddos ages 12, 4, and 2.
I dont usually take time off for new placements, like full days. But I set my schedule around for appointments..also I do not work Mondays so that helps

Thank you! That would be very doable for me as well. I am scheduled 8-5 M-F but we don't see outside appointments on Fridays so it should be relatively easy to take time off then. That's in cardiology where I'm at currently (I work in a veterinary teaching hospital). I move back and forth between cardio and ICU where we have student back-ups every day. They don't like us to be gone but it's a little more flexible.
I expect both of my supervisors will be a lot more understanding than I think.
