My DH and I completed our Pride classes two months ago. We are waiting on our foster care license to be completed, we still need a home study done. It's been over three months since we completed all the paperwork for our foster care license, and we haven't heard a word from our worker. We can't move forward with adoption, or really anything, until we get this license. I've sent the lady that does the home visits an email, and received no response. Does anybody have any idea how long this can take? I keep hearing how desperate they are for foster/ adoption homes, but we are stuck waiting with no word from anyone:grr:
We are in Riverside county, thank you for any replies.
It took us about a year and 2 months from beginning to first placement... Read my blog for a detailed timeline. Lavidalui.blogspot.com or click link on my signature below....hang in there and good luck :)

We are also in Riverside County and completed our Pride classes in November. We were told we would be done/approved by end of year due to the temporary workers they had on hand and their contracts would be expiring end of December. The temp worker we were assigned to never did get to us and we ended up getting part 1 of our home study done in March. We didn't get the 2nd part of our homestudy completed until the middle of April and then the actual approval came on June 15. June 23rd, we received a call for placement and accepted. It took us a little over a year and a half from submitting our paperwork to placement. We were told that if we were willing to accept siblings and children over the age of 4, no race preference, that we should fly through the system (which we were happy to accept)...that was not the case at all! We are licensed for 3 children but were hoping for 2 (any race, age up to 9 years old). We were placed with an infant right from hospital because he had 2 siblings that were to be adopted by their foster family and we were willing to do sibling contact; however, they were not approved yet for adoption through their agency. They decided at the 11th hour not to adopt them and the siblings were also placed with us. While it seemed like the process took forever, once we were approved - it went like a flash! We now have 4 children, ages 3 years and younger!! My best advice is to be patient. Nothing we were told was the fact, we did a lot of hurry up and wait! It will eventually be worth it for you but be prepared for a lot of delays! The good news is that the furloughs have been lifted as of August 1st and the adoption/case workers are now working 5 days per week instead of the 4 when we were waiting for approval!! I wish you the best of luck in your adoption journey.
It also took us 1 year and 2 months from our first pride class to our first placement. And our social worker says that was quick!
Oh wow!!!! I am so frustrated at this point, and seriously wondering if we should switch to a private agency. I finally got ahold of someone last week on Wednesday, she promised a return call by Friday, nothing!!!! They made it sound like they needed families so badly, and we are just sitting here waiting, ugh!!!

You should see if an private agency will accept your Pride Classes. I'm with one and you can see by my signature how fast it went. The orientation, classes, homestudy and license were all done in 90 days. They have a lot of incentive ($$$$) to get people licensed fast.
