So we got a 3yr old emergency placement on Friday night. He is a very good kid but he had no set bedtime so it's been a rough few nights. Any advice on how to get a 3yr old to go to sleep before midnight? Anything would be helpful. Thank you!
hi Froggie! Congrats (again) on your placement! I suggest establishing your routine and trying to stick to it at night.. Like dinner, bath, books, (quiet time) and rocking (if he'll allow it at 3?). Is he in a toddler bed?
I think the book 1-2-3 magic says to place child in bed and say "nite nite" and walk away..if he gets up, put him back in bed and say "nite nite" again...then repeat until he stays without saying anything at all after the first time he gets up (supposed to be the most unexciting human on earth and not talk to him). Hopefully someone weighs in with more experience.
He's adjusting too and I bet was really scared the first few nights so your routine will do wonders and rocking/calming him too.
Happy for you and best of luck!
