Ok soo orientation went great we got an assigned LW and we got to fill out a bunch of awesome papers (enter sarcastic tone here) lol but all in all it was great the person explaing how everything will go from now on said that how fast this moves is up to me and DH I would like to know how true this is? She also out of the 8 possible FP there asked me and DH if we knew spanish I answer fully bilingual she proceeded to make a not on our paper and asterisk should I think any into this? I am so happy we started the process officially my skin is ready to pop out at how happy I am.
In our case it was definitely true the process moved as fast as we wanted it to. We were the first from our class to have all of our paperwork in, first to complete all the requirements (CPR/AED/First Aid Certification, background check, drug screen, fingerprints). Because we were the first ones ready, we were the first to have our home evaluation which led to us being the first home study completed. We happened to get approved before most people from the class that finished up 4 months ahead of us. That being said, they "NEEDED" us desperately. We're straight foster. I'm a stay at home mom (we can take babies under 6 weeks so no issues with childcare) and we are open to any race. We were told we were exactly what they needed. Sure enough, we get our first placement before we were officially approved.
It sounds like being bilingual in your area will be "NEEDED", which will probably bump up your wait time if it's anything like it is here. GL! Get your paperwork in quickly (make sure it's correct) and try not to stress (it doesn't make things go any faster) :o I know this from stressing WAY too much. Our CW has told me to breath on several occasions, including today, lol!

Congrats on the first big step! You are one of my neighbor states- I am in KY. I can tell you in KY- they are DESPERATE for bi-lingual/multi-lingual homes!
We had a Latin American couple in our classes and the workers were very happy about that.
Good luck! It will fly by and you will hear little feet in your home before you know it!
Congrats!! Ours went by pretty fast too. We are Foster but are also open to adoption so we had everything done before our last MAPP class. Those who were in our class for adoption only could not even start the home study process until MAPP was over. Good Luck!!
Ok UPDATE BECAUSE I FEEL MY SKIN READY TO BURST OUT! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
