Ok legit question here and curiosity killed that cat for sure :fish: I guess my question is are we allowed to take pictures of our fosters and how if any leeway are we allowed to put them on our Facebook? Are we allowed to show them off to our family members and friends or is that strictly forbidden? :coffee:
I was informed that we cannot post photos on facebook for all to see. You can send photos via phone, email to family/friends. I think if you do post photos on facebook they must be only from behind no face shots

We were sent a big NO NO letter. No social media at all!!! They dont even want us to mention we are foster parents.
They tried to discourage us from having FB as well.
Well that is new and I feel a bit unethical it is your right to choose to have FB or twitter if you wish. But I understand their concern and I see the point the children's privacy is important and that is understandable.
We were told absolutely NO social media. We were even told of a foster parent (from our own agency) who broke this rule and while it wasn't said whether or not they put pictures up, the kids in their home were removed after the bios found their FB page and saw what was being written.
The page was set to "Public" and the person was going on and on about how crappy of a parent the dad was and how she hated the bios, etc. So, they stepped in and removed the kids to another home. I don't know if this was just to scare us though.
Another family from our agency (the people who actually told us to go with the agency we're with) post pictures of their foster kids all the time. Since we're in the same agency, I know it's against the rules. Not sure they're being watched under a microscope by the agency, but I wouldn't risk it the way that family does.
I'd limit pictures and just stick with not putting anything on FB or Twitter or anything else. :)
We were told pics without any identify faces are ok. So pics from the back were fine or just so the face wasn't seen. Never, ever post anything in a public forum about the parents of foster children or anything to do with a case at all. You can set up a completely private members only fb page so that you can let family see the kids, but you also have to be very clear with them that they can not share the pics, or talk to anyone about the case either. A private group can only be seen by the invited members of that group. No one can even search for it.

I would ask your licensing worker. I think this may depend on the state..
We are allowed to post pictures on social media, but you are not allowed to refer to the child as a foster child or your foster child at any point in time.
When my kids were fostered, it was before FB became the phenomenon it is now. But with my last 2, only pics between me and family members. This meant no school pics.
In IL foster parents don't have the right to give permission to publish a photo of foster children. We were given guidance that even at school, their name could not appear next to their image except for the yearbook.
I would set my FB to private anyway as you become involved in foster care for your own safety and privacy. *i can't put their picture up but I can't stop a famy member from tagging me in a picture they took at a family gathering. :) we set up a password protected Shutterfly Account for our family so they could see pictures. And after my kids went home their Mom gave me permission to post pictures on Facebook.
We aren't allowed to post any pics of any kind of the foster children. We have to sign a form basically saying that we agree to not publicly publish any photos of any kind and/or personal information is off limits too. We can mention them and talk about being foster parents but no real names and no identifying info.

Same here, but check with your state for specifics. Seems to vary state to state.
We were told no fb also, but, I have a very limited fb, I only have my family and friends, all of them know us irl, my fb is locked down like fort Knox lol...so yeah, I post pics of my kids:)
