I was talking with a friends about us doing foster care... we are a couple of weeks away from having everything done. My friend made a comment about getting WIC for babies (specifically for formula)...
It got me thinking... Do Foster children under 5 years automatically qualify for WIC or is it based on the Foster Parents Income (Just like bio-children)??
It really will not matter too much for us I am just curious :o

Children under 5 in foster care get WIC simply because they're in foster care. Your income does not matter. If they have you fill out the qualification form, then your foster child is a family of 1, with an income of your monthly stipend amount.

Where I'm at, all foster kids under 5 get WIC. The FPs income has nothing to do with qualification.

All foster kids in Cali get Medi-Cal. Kids under five with Medi-Cal automatically qualify for WIC.
