Hi all, my DH and I finished our Pride classes almost four months ago, and still haven't been scheduled for out first home inspection for our CCL. We are foster/adopt, so we can't move forward until we have our CCL. I just received an email this am saying the worker who does these inspections is out until Nov. 8th!!!! I am a patient person but this is getting ridiculous! Is anyone in Riv. County going thru this as well, any words of advice?? Is the need for foster/adopt homes not as great as they had us believe?

We are RC but we were told that if what you are open to is not what they need then they put you on the back burner. The lady at our first class told us that they are needing foster homes for older kids, sibling groups, and special needs and those that agree to that get priority. We ended up going through an agency which took from start to finish 9 weeks and then the day we were officially opened we were called and told about our daughter whom we adopted 9 months later. Good luck in your journey.

I did my home inspection last December. The inspector said that she is the only one in this county. She was considering changing positions so I don't know what is happening now. The best thing to do is call the CCL number to get an update. Angie was my home inspector. Awesome lady with tons of experience and knowledge. Good luck!
We had our pre inspection last Thursday, it was fairly easy. He checked all our smoke detectors, our water temp, the kids room, our yard etc..... He made sure our knives were secured, asked about any alcohol, and wanted to know where our cleaning supplies were kept. He also looked at our first aid kit, we were missing adhesive tape of all things:). It was pretty easy, but I was so nervous!! Just make sure the checklist you get from class is complete, and you'll pass no problem.

We are foster/adoptive parents also, and I feel for all of you just starting out in the process. We were there a few times over, and it does get very frustrating. It feels everything is running smooth, and then a few weeks go by, and nothing is happening. There are so many people involed in the process, it only takes one not to dot their I's or cross their T's and all will just come to a stop. Most CW's are carrying 80 to 125 files that they have to maintain. I am sure some of you have had the one to two week returned phone calls, it sounds ridicules and funny, but it does happen, because we have experinced it lots of times, and still do. We have learned to stay in touch with the CW's; no returned calls in two days, call them again, or call the front desk; they do forget. Another good way is by emailing them, and try to stay in that habit, because as you get further into the process of adopting, when that time comes; spoken words do get lost on the phone, but written statements last and need to be answered by CW's, by phone, in person or by email; especially if you CC their supervisor. We are currently trying concurrent planning, it's not for everyone, it's diffenently a roller coaster ride of emotions, understanding, and Patience...
