Hey everyone!
I have been lurking for a while and decided to finally sign up for my own account and join the fun.
Hubby and I are in the VERY early stages of getting our foster care license. (Our first informational meeting is in a few weeks and we hope to have our application completed to be able to turn in then.) Our intent was to foster/adopt but in doing some research, I realized Illinois does not have a foster/adopt option so I suppose that will be one of my questions at the meeting.
We have a 6 y/o bio daughter and were really hoping to avoid the "revolving door" of children for her sake, as she gets attached really easily and we don't want our dream of growing our family to cause her any heartache of we can help it. She is over the moon excited to have a sibling but I could definitely use some advice helping her adjust to having our future foster children come and go without breaking her heart. She understands what foster care is, and knows most of them are only going to be staying for a little while, but I know she will still get attached and cry her eyes out when they leave..... which is why we had hoped to foster/adopt - but we apparently can't. Any advice is most appreciated. :)
Looking forward to getting to know everyone better!
