I have found my way back to this site for a reason so I hope someone actually reads this and has any info that would help. I was born May 4, 1966 at Touro Infirmary. I am looking for my birthparents. I was adopted when I was two months old. I only have the usual non-identifying info. If anyone has any info, it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Sltrahan - we read it, but I have no info :(
Wanted you to know you are at least in my thoughts.
Good luck

Todd -
There are so many birth mothers who can't wait for the day that they get to meet or reunite with their children. Many are told they have no right to contact, that they ought to move on with life, etc etc... Some rebel against that idealogy and some grieve and move on.
How sad would it be if your mother is afraid to actively search (thinking she can't) but hoping for the day you'll find her? People are as varied as can be. We just don't know.
Do you have any names for either parent?
I'd like to say that regardless, she loves you, just can't tell you if she's let you go...
Take care
Maia
I was adopted from the Protestant Home for Babies. I am reunited. The law firm that handled most Protestant Home adoptions was Stone Pigman.
Is there a common law firm associated with Volunteers of America adoptions? I am helping someone to track down their birth-family.
If you were adopted from Volunteers of America and know the name of your law firm, please let me know!

I was born June 29th, 1986 at Baptist Hospital. My birthmother lived at the VoA Maternity home from January till I was born. I was adopted when I was 10 days old. Those 10 days, I was named Dorthory, after Dot (Dorthory) Greco, my social worker at the time.
I'd love to talk with anyone who lived there during the first 6 months of 1986!
Maggie
It's only $25 (according to the site, unless it's gone up recently.) And they will waive this if you ask them to... you never know.
Contact the registry at (225) 342-9922 or 1-800-259-2456 and request a Voluntary Registry packet which will provide all the information necessary for registration. The process includes completion of an affidavit and a $25.00 fee.

I am looking for my sister, she may not even know that she was adopted. My mother had 3 daughters. The middle child was adopted out. The sister that I am searching for was born in 1969 in New Orleans. My older sister found her birth certificate in a closet. I was only 9 years old when I had the birth certificate in my hand and I can't remember much. I can only remember that she was not quite 2 years older than me. There was also a picture of her. She was about 6 months old when she was placed for adoption. I am not sure which agency was used. One relative told me that it was Catholic Charities and another told me VOA and our birth mom told me it was not either. Probably to throw me off. Our mom is holding out on me!
I am fairly certain that she is a full sister because my father's name was on the BC but there appears to be some controversy between my mom and dad over that which lead to a protective order and my mother sheltering.
Also, she could have been a ward of the court. From what our birth mom says....the adoption was forced. My mother sheltered with this child with a protective order against my father. When the two made back up, the state took custody. I was conceived after all of this was said and done. If she does know that she is adopted, she may not even know about me, since I was delivered after her adoption.
My mother is alive and well but my dad passed away when I was 13.
Could I find more records through Louisiana public records since she was a ward of the state prior to adoption? I know her birth name!
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated in locating info such as the agency used etc...

Searching for birth sibling born June 5 or 6, 1951 at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, La. Birth mother was from Mississippi. I have signed up at the Louisiana Reunion Registry. The State advised that my sibling has not signed up the the Registry, but also did not mention the non-id information in the return letter. Would the non id still be at Touro today? Where do I turn to locate that information? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
