I am trying to adopt through CPS region 6. been having ALOT of trouble getting any responses from TARE, or caseworker. I do not understand why this process is taking so long. I do not want a baby looking for an older child . has anyone been through this before any suggestion
I am in Region 6, I have one adopted (got her at three days, adopted at 15 months). I inquired about one boy, twice, and this is going through an agency, if they have ever heard back about him I am unaware - I get it that they might want this boy in a home with two parents (I am a single mom) or with a single dad...not a problem, just let us know...geezzz.
I don't know why everything takes so long - it is unfair to everyone. So, yes, this is "normal"

We have submitted on over 25 older boys, and have heard back 2 times. Once to tell us we were not chosen, and the other time we were chosen for a RAS. Our FS had just been placed with us, so we passed up on him. Now that our FS is RUing, I am kicking myself in the butt for doing that.
We are licensed for matched adoption. My husband has been very diligent in making contact with the CW for the kids we submitted inquiries for on TARE. Half have the wrong phone number listed, but he tracked them down! Our CM and Adoption director at the agency get cc'd on every email we send to CPS and we also send them recaps of any communication we have with CPS. Much to our surprise, every CPS CW(6) has answered the phone or returned our phone call. We haven't gotten matched yet, but 4 of 6 went to "in review" status within 24 hours. The only one that we did not make these efforts is the only one that has had no activity/communication. We have been told that there is a push to get school aged kids placed for the new school year. We were informed we were not chosen for one girl, but there are several with staffing selection in August. As our case manager said, you can never be doing too much. Hopefully we will hear something soon! Good luck !
