Has anyone had any success with homeopathic ADD remedies? My daughter has ADD (no hyperactivity) but my husband is strongly against medicating her. I am open to medication because she is making life unbearable at home. She does not yet have a diagnosis from her doctor, but the psych eval through the school showed that she has ADD.
My daughter has a wide range of special needs, including cerebral palsy, learning disability, visual impairment, celiac disease, attachment disorder and possible ADD & ODD.
My daughter has an upcoming appointment with her doctor, so I want to be prepared when we discuss the ADD Dx.
Thank you!

I just found something online called Bright Spark. My husband is open to trying this, but I definitely want to check my DD's pediatrician.

I was originally against medicating my AS. Then I changed my mindset from "this will make it easier for me to handle him" to "this will make it easier for him to enjoy life more". And that has happened. Before meds, he was getting completely out of control and everyone in the house was miserable. After meds, things have improved dramatically. We also are involved with in home psych services due to his ODD, PTSD, and RAD, but the meds on their own are hugely beneficial in helping control the aggression and ADHD so that he can focus on his schoolwork more easily as well as give the therapists a fighting chance to help him with his other challenges. I hope you can find some remedy that alleviates some of her symptoms so everyone, most importantly her, can start to relax and breathe a little.
wordsmither - I totally agree. My husband doesn't spend as much time with the kids, so he doesn't experience some the issues that I've encountered. My DD gave him a run for his money this weekend, so maybe he will change his mind about the meds.
I am not against medicating and so far I have only heard positive things about medicating. We have an appointment next month and will discuss our options after receiving the diagnosis.
I was against medicating at first also but L was having problems in the class. On meds, he's so much better. I look at medicating as the lesser of 2 evils.
052001: his name is Jon Bennett; I'm trying to find his website. Also, tell your husband ADD is real as an adult who was dx'd later in life.

I know someone who has had success with a product called, ATTEND.The concern I have about homeopathic is they aren't tested and monitored by a governing body. Thus, they may work but haven't had the proper studies done on them. Since they aren't watched, I am concerned if they consistently have the same amount of medication in there every time. Medicine approved by the FDA is monitored. They have to prove the drug with studies and they must be consistent with production. Anyways, that is my 2 cents worth. That being said, I tried other things first (therapy and lots of outside activities to relieve that energy). My daughter needed more than that. She is on ritalin now and it seems to be helping her a lot.
