This is the first one I have ever submitted to get more information on a child. How does it work? Should I call to follow up? Little one is in my state, in the same county even. Any help is appreciated!

Call or email at least every couple days (without being obnoxious) until you get a response. I firmly believe that the reason we had a placement so quickly is I made it very difficult to forget that I wanted to hear from them. They will look over your homestudy, and you will be put in a big old stack if they think its a potential match. Those will be weeded through by caseworkers, and then probably the therapists and finally a team including the foster parents. If you are a match they will call you, but don't hold your breathe! Especially for younger ones, there are usually quite a few families being considered.

So I called and left a message this morning. Just received a call back. Apparently, she is in a residential treatment place right now and is not ready for adoption. However she did put our names in her fie that we're interested when she does become available.
Here's my question: what behaviors would cause her to be in a facility like that? She is only 6.
