My husband and I went through several phone and email conversations with an agency in CA. Today we were to have our official enrollment interview and we were beyond excited. Then this afternoon someone called and explained that they had not actually looked at our app in detail and saw that we haven't been married long enough for a home study in our state. This is beyond disconcerting because we've had multiple conversations, they had to "pre approve" our initial application before they would even speak to us, and this allowed us to get even more excited about today's interview. My family has been researching this evening and cannot find a single website that indicates a 3 year marriage requirement for a HS in Colorado. The woman was friendly but very nonchalant and basically said, "We'll be here in three years if you still want to adopt." After two miscarriages, this feels like another incredible disappointment. Does anyone know if there is such a requirement in Colorado? How can they allow single parent HS's and yet require a 3 year marriage? I am so confused and feel very defeated. :(

Is it possible that it isn't a state requirement but an agency requirement? MANY agencies have marriage length requirements - several threads on here with people looking for agencies that don't have any marriage length requirements (few do). I know ours was 5 years and longer if it was a second marriage. I can't imagine a state law or anything that requires a certain min of years
