Hi all. Really need some advice and not sure where to go. My wife and I were just approved after about a year of homestudies, classes, etc. We received a call from our case worker regarding a 1 yr old that is high risk. the infant is currently working with developmental therapist, a physical therapist, and a GI specialist.
The infant is walking, and the GI is due acid reflex. my concern and questions come because the mother is in a home and is cognitive delayed. We now have the opportunity to speak with the physicians and we want to find out what this will mean long term for the baby.
Any and all help would be great.
Hi fosters! We recently adopted from ma foster care. Have you had a disclosure meeting yet? When we had ours, we saw the baby's records and were encouraged to talk to her ped and early intervention worker. The great thing about ma is that the kids have tons of services usually. I dont know the answer here but do know that lots of "typical" kids have cognitively delayed parents. Maybe it depends on the cause of the cognitive delays? Good luck!

I would talk with your own Physician or Pediatrician before the disclosure meeting.
I would also read about Developmental Delays on what my Family Physician would refer Webmd.com.
If you both work outside of the home??
I would also look into what Child Care Services would be available to a Medical Fragile Infant or Toddler also.
I also agree with the previous poster, and well said also!!

Good luck and Best Wishes to your Family!
