I am new on here my ex husband and I when we were married he had a affair and created a baby the mother left and I had raised her as my own now she is 12 and wants me to adopt her as she says I am her mom, the mother and I have been talking and she has relinquished her rights to me. what do I need to do when the papers arrive I live in florida I just need some advice thank you:wings:

you should speak to a lawyer practicing family law in your state
In most cases that I'm aware of, both parents need to terminate their rights. Is your ex willing to do this?

Your ex will definitely have a say in whether or not you can adopt his daughter.
Are you looking to have full custody of her or joint with your ex?
Either way, if he doesn't want you to adopt her, he'll be able to block it.
