What's usually in the redacted files? How of it is past information How up-to-date is the files? Is there current (to the day) information or would it be months prior data?
Trying to determine what information we will receive.
It is mostly just history on the bios- plus the when, where, and why the child (ren) came into care. There wasn't alot seeing as I had Li'l Singer since birth.
Ours included criminal history and past history with CPS - very little medical history, It went up to TPR and stated the goal of non-relative adoption.
I coildn't tell what if anything had been redacted. Not worth the seven month wait.

There were 14 months between the first CPS report and when my kids were taken into custody, so a huge chunk of the file were the notes from the in home services and visits during those 14 months. That was all interesting and heartbreaking to read. I honestly skipped over the most recent stuff because it was about me and the paperwork I submitted. Someday that will all be interesting, but I don't want to read all my monthly reports for 26 months of care. If the kid(s) aren't with you now, I'm sure it is all interesting. There was plenty of redundancy, such as when a travel request was sent to multiple people involved in the case, and they included the fax report for each one. The file I got for my newest adoptees was 1500 pages long!
To piggyback on this question about redacted files, we got the redacted files today for a girl we inquired about. We are doing matched adoption. CPS sent our CM the redacted files who forwarded them to us. CM said he was going to request a selection staffing. I thought that we only got redacted files if we were being considered for placement. I don't want to read too much into it. I am sure our CM will get back to us on Monday, but if anyone has done matched adoption and might be able to give me a little insight; it would be greatly appreciated!
wow! that's interesting and fast. we were matched in June but are still waiting to get the redacted files.

So our agency adoption director said that the staffing for the girl we got the redacted files hasn't been set yet and that it is a "good sign" that we got those files prior. Interestingly enough we were told yesterday that we were chosen for a staffing that was today. If we are picked as the lead family(fingers crossed), then we will get more information on her, including redacted files. I am learning that every case is different. It is great to have these forums to at least get others experiences!
Love and Camel,
As you have received the redacted files, what sort of things should someone like me (or my family) should pay close attention? Will these files provide some "red flags?" What can we deduce from the redacted files from your experience?
