Miss G (10 months old) and I (along with her cw) arrived home on Friday! She's absolutely amazing and we are head over heels in love with her.
CW came and did her required visits in our home, said she was impressed with how quickly the baby took to us and her brothers, had us sign a few things and headed back to her state.
Now I have a million questions I didn't think to ask before! For one, she has her state's medicaid. I have that card and her immunization record. That's all the medical info I have except the name of her doctor that is on her prescription medicine that came with her. I have no clue how to go about finding a doctor for her here. The website on her card has NO providers outside of her state, so clearly can't just chose one from that list!
I also have no idea if she gets a stipend and if so if she still gets it here with us (we are licensed foster parents through our state but also fictive kin being called non-relative adoption in the case). TPR hasn't happened but will relatively soon. We don't care about the money at all, but don't know if we are supposed to be filling out some form or report about it or not.
We also don't know if we have to do any monthly reports or medication logs and such. We adopted the brothers privately in the same state and the monthly report packets the agency required were extensive but i don't know if the state requires the same for foster care adoptions or if we are even considered foster adoption or just foster since TPR hasn't occurred.
I'm sure all of this had to have been addressed in the ICPC stuff, just not sure who I should be calling to ask the questions!
Any advice welcome!
In the mean time, I'm going to go watch my sweet baby sleep and pinch myself that she's really here!
We have a pediatrician and we LOVE her, but she doesn't take medicaid. She has seen all three of my sons their whole lives so I so wish she could/would take Miss G! Someone suggested asking if they would/could make an exception and take it just for her since other doctors in their parent network do. Might have to try that.

Her Medicaid needs to be cancelled in the sending state and moved to the receiving state (your state). That was our issue with our daughter and it took a good 3 months to do cause nobody knew what the heck they were doing. We had to go thru our local FSS (Family support service) office in order to get her a doctors visit before her Medicaid was switched. If not, we would have had to pay out of pocket. Is there a SW you can contact to get a doctor for her to see in the meantime. You'll need to contact that SW that came to your state and get her to close out the Medicaid in the other state so you can get it transferred to your state. Once that's resolved you can go on the Medicaid website or call them and get a pediatrician she can see under your states Medicaid.
If she came from another state you'd have needed to complete an ICPC. Is that done? If so, that would include the stipend and any adoption subsidy/FC subsidy from the other state (state she came from). That is a question for that SW where she came from. That should be all in the ICPC paperwork. And if an ICPC has been done there should be a SW in your county that is overseeing your home. They come out monthly. Have you had contact with anyone locally?
Yes she came from another state and yes ICPC was done, of course. As far as the sw from sending state, she seems not to know many answers! I talked to our worker here and she told me to just go to the local Medicaid office and apply. But since she hasn't yet gotten any placement info from out of state she didn't even know the baby was here until I told her! So the info about stipend and Medicaid and such should all be in ICPC paperwork? And would both states have copies of that paperwork?

When our adoption stipend was done we did it thru the sending state's SW. I had to type up reasons we needed it and fax it to her. Then she sends it to that states adoption worker and they approve it. Both states should know about the ICPC and have that information in some form I would think. You may not qualify for a stipend if you are considered a relative caregiver the sending state may not pay you. We were licensed foster home so we qualified. Some states allow it, others dont and that comes from the sending state.
Our states SW also told us to apply for medicaid ourselves. We did that and that screwed it all up. We eventually found out the sending state needed to file paperwork to medicaid there to terminate the coverage there and then we could again apply. I would get the sending state to terminate the coverage there first. They won't allow medicaid in two states.

We are licensed foster parents. They told us we are not considered kin. She is a Preadoptive placement but isn't legally free for adoption yet. TPR hasn't happened. We don't plan to ask for an adoption subsidy at all. Just wondering about the foster stipend before finalization. I wish we could add her to our insurance, but we can't because she is a ward of the state still. So I applied for Medicaid since both state's workers said that's what I need to do. Guess we will see how that works out!
