My husband and I would like to foster/foster to adopt a newborn and are currently researching the process and doing lots of reading.
My question is - what are the pros and cons of going with our local county vs. a private agency for our foster placements? We've been told our country does not like to share "homes", so signing up for both isn't an option.
Any advice is much appreciated!

It just depends on how they do placements. In our old city the private agencies took turn going on call lists, so the benefit of the county would be more call placements. Here the private agencies do higher needs kids, behavioral or theraputic homes. So it just depends on how your local system is set up.
