Hi all. DH and I have been working towards being liscenced as foster parents with a hope of adopting. We are in Texas, Region 6. We just finished our home study, and I was wondering what experiences others have had with how long it took y'all to get find out if you were liscenced or not after the home study was complete?
Our contract said it could take up to a month and to ask our agency director, and the agency director just said she is sure we will get liscenced.
Anyway, I am really just looking for a way to pass the time until we find out by hearing about the experiences of others*
I'm interested in knowing too, we had our home visits completed on Dec 24th, and are waiting on the homestudy to be "written up".

I think it just depends. I can't really answer the question because I didn't pay that close of attention and it has been several years. We called initially on January 3rd and were licensed on March 3rd. So definitely less than two months from homestudy visits to licensed :) Sorry I can't be more help. I'm sure they'll get it done as soon as they can. And it will work out just like it is supposed to.
I'm sure the contactor will get the home study written up as soon as she can. I am just looking to read about the experiences of others to pass the time. All of the hurry up and wait in this process has been nerve wracking. We attended our orientation, and then had to wait three months for training classes, did training classes and had to wait two more months to finish the required changes to our house to pass our fire inspection, then had to wait for an available home study contractor. Now we wait to see if we passed the home study and are liscensed. Fun stuff. ;)
I think it depends of what agency you are using and how they do things.
I'm also in Texas - region 3.
Our Homestudy contractor told us she had one week to write up and submit the homestudy after meeting with us, and then our agency director reviewed and approved it.
Our homestudy was done 8/21 and we were licensed on 9/16. We got our first placement two weeks later.
I think they make the licensing process long and draggy on purpose. They are prepping you for the actual experience of fostering. Cause that will really test your patience - always waiting on someone else to make a decision that you get very little input on but literally will change your life.
Good luck and hang in there!
UGH...well we are still waiting! We finished our last home study the week before Thanksgiving and our HS was suppose to be written by January 15th. Shes still not done writing it

It does depend on the order of how you get licensed. I started with fingerprints, did all the paperwork, and then finished with the classes. It took two weeks from the time that the licensor sent in the paperwork to receive the license.

I got on here for the same purpose! ;) Had our homestudy yesterday and now we 'hurry up and wait' some more! :D A year since we initially got the application to fill out.

Any news yet, auberry2? I'm going batty over here!
Ours was about a month and half after the last visit. But it was over the holidays and we were not pushing. I wouldn't worry about not getting licensed. I have never in 2 decades heard of someone not getting licensed who went through the entire process. They weed you out long before they waste money on doing the homestudy.
