Finding a Social Worker

My husband and I would like to get the process started for independent adoption in north Texas. Is there anywhere besides an adoption agency that you can get a homestudy through? My thoughts are to find a social worker to do just the homestudy, take our time finding the right bm, then get a lawyer at that point. I can't seem to find anywhere that does just the homestudy, all I can find, including the states foster to adopt, you have to do the entire process right away with them. How do you find an individual social worker? We are in DFW.
