Hi! We are currently in the process of me adopting my step son. His birth mother lives in Colorado, we are in Texas. She filed (and i have in my possession) the Petition to terminate her rights when he was born (2007) but it was never finalized. Do we have to get her to file another one? And has anyone dealt with this with parents being in different states? Can she file the termination paperwork in CO and we finish the adoption in Texas...Or does it all have to be done here in Texas? She is willing to sign rights over....just trying not to spend all of our savings to get this done.
