I haven't been on the forums for a very long time. I see there has been a lot of updates since. Hello everyone! So I am an adoptive parent of 2 boys from foster care. They are 11 & 6. They are great! Well, I am in the waiting phases of my 3rd adoption. I am hoping to adopt a girl ages 0-3. I have now been waiting a little over 2 years for a legal risk (foster-adopt) placement.
So that was my back story. Here is my issue. DFS in my state requires everyone to go through a private agency. The agency I am with is awesome. However DFS does things so crazy, I just can't comprehend it. I was chosen as one of 3 families that were going to be presented at a permanency meeting to determine to placement of a baby girl they called me about. Long story short the child had to be moved to an emergency respite placement before the permanency meeting could take place. DFS has now decided to leave the child in the respite home to be adopted and now they are no longer having the meeting, so the 3 families that were chosen (me being 1) are no longer being considered for the child and the respite family is now the prospective adoptive family. The child has been in the respite home for 3 days. I am angry at the process and decision making. I think they should have at least asked one of the three families if they could be a respite option since we all have foster and adoption training here. I am slowly losing hope of ever finding my little girl.
Oh, that stinks!
If they required an emergency respite, why didn't they pick one of you?
I'm sorry
