I did the ancestry DNA and discovered a 2nd cousin. Through a ton of research, I'm pretty positive she's actually a 1st cousin once removed. With her help, we've determined that my grandfather was a man named John Paul Thomas, born 1942 in PA, died 2004 in CA. He had an illegitimate son, my father, born June 3, 1960 in the Bronx, NY. There are no records of a boy born with the last name Thomas on that date in that borough, so I have to assume he didn't take his father's name. I know my grandfather also had a daughter, younger than my father, but whether she was with the same mother or not, I'm unsure.
I know John Paul Thomas lived in Pennsylvania, New York City and California. Any info would be welcome.
