I'm married. And I have biological and adopted children. But in my various circles I have single friends who have also adopted. And fostered. What big hearts! All of the single adoptive parents I know have sacrificed a lot to create their families - although they wouldn't call it sacrifice. I know some who have had to change careers in order to make family work. I see single adoptive parenting as a different sort of calling than the desire to adopt as a couple. Choosing to take on the role of 2 parents (which means provider and nurturer) is a big weight. I believe for these good people, God looks kindly and bestows an extra measure of strength. So THANK YOU to the single people out there who focus so much on others that you truly forget yourselves as you move forward to create wonderful lives for the next generation!
