Hi There - I've read in a variety of places of people who have a desire to foster an/or adopt but cannot pull together the funds to cover the cost of a home study and background checks. In a country where good foster parents are desperately needed, I'm sure there has to be a way to either waive the fees completely, or grants available to cover those costs. Anyone have information on this?
I did some web-searching and came up short. I would also love to know the answer to this! In Oregon, if you are doing foster care, or adopting through foster care, everything is free. But we adopted domestically, not through the state, and had to pay for everything. We were only able to apply to adoption-specific grants after our homestudy was finished and approved (and therefore paid for). So I wonder the same thing!

In Idaho, the state also covers the costs of a home study if you're fostering/adopting from foster care. I wouldn't be surprised if this is pretty standard practice across all 50 states.
