Sometimes I'll encounter memoirs or newspaper articles in which parents talk freely about their kids and their diagnoses. Like this article - linked at the bottom of this post - about a mom with a kid diagnosed with RAD - and I cringe a little.
On the one hand, I know it's important for people to realize that they're not alone, that there's hope and treatments available, etc. And this mom is fighting to get her son the treatment that he needs.
But on the other hand, I think - that poor kid! Now everyone that he/she goes to school with, everyone who might want to hire him/her someday, people he/she dates in the future, etc will have access to this extremely personal information about him or her.
What are your thoughts?
