When people find out I am a birth mom, they often assume I didn't want my baby. That's just plain wrong! I try to always take the opportunity to educate and explain that I love and want my child, and my decision to place was purely in her best interest. What are some adoption misconceptions you have come across? How do you handle them?

"Adoption is way too expensive." So few people realize that foster adoption is not expensive at all. That isn't to say it is easy - or that there won't be extra costs associated with it, like counseling for the kids - but most people have no idea how inexpensive it is to adopt from foster care - or that you can adopt from foster care without straight-up fostering first.
