Birth parent tips in closed adoption

As an adoptee, my number one tip would be to write your child a letter. It doesn't matter what it says, just that it you cared enough to write it. Also, register at the adoption registries. There is a great one here at registry.adoption.com and most states have their own mutual consent registry. That way if you want to be found, it will makes things easier for your child. What tips do you have for birth parents heading into a closed adoption?
