Br,
It's hard not to compare your experience with the experience of others -- but what it boils down to, regardless of what you're told, is exposure.
Are you using a small local agency? Where do they Advertise? What type of networking and promoting do they do?
If you're working with a local agency with local reach that relies on the Yellow Pages, then 1 a months is AWESOME.
If you're working with a national agency, with an advertising budget and active social workers, then 1 is pretty pitiful.
What some couples do is talk to their agency about utilizing a facilitator in tandem with them. Some agencies allow it, others do not. Find out what facilitators work in your area and contact them and ask them those same questions: Where do you advertise? What type of networking and promoting do you do? Do you have a 24 hr phone line?
The more you 'put yourself out there' the better.
Also -- if you haven't already, take a look at Parent Profiles here on Adoption.com https://adoption.com/profiles -- it's just one more way you can be proactive about finding a potential match.
Keep in mind -- the more you put yourself out there, the more likely you are to attract scammers. Guard your heart, listen to your gut and take baby steps.
