I usually am very cautious about privacy issues. That did not stop me from dna testing because I knew that was the only way to find my birth family. I hear people say all the time though that they won't test because of privacy. What exactly could one do with you raw dna data?
I don't think they could do anything with it.
My daughter in law is adopted and I had her test with with Ancestry and 23andme. Then I had her do a free transfer to GEDmacth and Myhertiage also FTDNA but that was $49 for that transfer.
If you were born in the US you have a very good chance of finding fairly close cousins to work your way back to your family. Also use the Mormon site Family search.org
