Hi I live in MO and recently took in our first FS. He is 3 and has been in care for 11 months. We are his second home. At what point does TPR occur?
Where we are a year is when the SW has to start justifying why reunification hasn’t happened. About that time they switched to a limbo plan that had both reunification and TPR as an outcome and now at 1 year 6 months they are just starting the TPR process. YMMV though, in our situation there was a point where reunification looked possible, which is probably why everything has dragged out so much. The SW thinks because we have yet to settle on adoption or not that TPR might drag out longer. Which really shouldn’t be the case but evidently is how they do it here.

I am in AL; I have a friend who is a SW in a Baptist Home who said the TPR's are mandated at the 12 month mark, if the child remains in Foster Care. This person also mentioned that it depends on how diligent DHR is with their paperwork. It takes an advocate to make sure the children aren't lost in the mound of paperwork.
We are at month 13 soon to be 14 in June. They said at the last FST that in May's FST we would move forward with TPR. Then at the May meeting they set another one for June.... If one is not set in June I'm reaching out to any and everyone available. Bio mom proves over and over again that she is not going to be able to reunify and FS deserves permanency and a full time family...
