Hello everyone,
I posted this elsewhere and haven't had any response so I'm moving it here with hopes I get some input.
I'm new here and looking for some guidance and opinions. I recently was able to get my original birth record, which listed my birth mother only, no father. After a few weeks of researching and researching I am about 99% sure I located her. After some inner wrestling with emotions and what to say to her initially I composed an email and sent it off. The next morning I got the read receipt back, and I have been in the proverbial holding pattern since. I completely understand the shock it must have been, and I don't know where she is at this point in her life. I hope she responds as I made it clear I was only looking for who I am, where did I come from, and what are my real parents like. I also went on to say that if she did not want to make contact to please at least pass on my medical history (I'm 43 and do not know anything).
WHAT do I do at this point? How long do I wait? Do I give up if I don't hear back? Do I reach out to her sibling? Any guidance / opinions would be of help.
