We adopted my now 2.5 year old son at birth. My sister is his biological mom and she is comfortable being referred to as his aunt. We all feel that she deserves a “special” title that distinguishes her from the rest of his “regular” aunts, but we are having trouble coming up with a meaningful nickname. We don’t live very close to our family and due to the pandemic, my son hasn’t seen any of them in person in over a year, including my sister, but we have been doing video calls, and he is now starting to recognize family members and remember their names, so we feel like we need to decide on something soon to solidify the importance of her role in his life. I’d love to hear from anyone in a similar situation who has maintained a positive relationship with a biological mom who is also a family member. Thanks so much!
