My parents are Mexican citizens and US residents. They go back to their home town pretty often and in their current trip they met a young girl(around 13years old). Her parents knew my grandparents so they are kind of like a family friend. Allegedly, the girls step father is violent towards her and her mother has a hard time looking after her as they are not financially stable. The girl expressed to my parents about her struggles and asked her to adopt her. My parents are really considering it now and have even gone to speak with the girls mother. The mother was on board with it and said she would sign adoption papers if they decided to adopt her . My parents want to do this but have no idea where to get started. Any information helps!
