My partner & I, along with the birth parents, are going through a private adoption with just a lawyer. We have had full custody for almost 3 months now. The adoption hearing should be soon. Then we have the final decree in October I believe? So 3 months from now. I am wondering.. in most cases.. how long do the birth parents have to appeal? They have agreed to no set visitation but their actions or lack there of, have us wishing to cut ties once we are able. How long do they usually have to appeal? Our lawyer said 30 days after the adoption hearing. But online I’m reading they could have all the way until the final decree to appeal? Any advice?
