Hi Everyone I am a 34 year old single woman
raising my 3 year old adopted daughter Dina from India. I've joined many adoption groups for support and encouragement and also because I am starting my process to adopt another child. I have picked a wonderful agency to work with.
I love children a great deal, and therefore even chose my profession that would involve being with children. I am an elementary school teacher. But I always wanted a large family, but being single has made it difficult.
I need some guidance from you once again. I've posted this message on other forums so if you've seen it before, you can just delete it.
I wanted to adopt an older child between the ages of 2-3 because I feel as a single parent, I will not be able to handle an infant as I have a three year old at home. But since I want to adopt from Guatemala, I am finding out that mostly, the only available children are babies under a year old. So now I have to make a decision whether or not I can truly handle a very strong willed 3 year old ;) and an infant under the age of one. I don't really have a network of friends that would be able to help me. My parents live close by but cannot really help too much with a child. But I would still love to adopt another daughter.
Is there anyone out there who has a toddler at home and has adopted a baby too? If so, how do you do it? Is it very difficult, or can it be manageable? How do you manage your time with work etc. Can you please give me some advice that will truly help me to make my decision on whether I should adopt a toddler or an infant? Thank you so much in advance.
Blessings,
Zeeba
Adoptions are a special time when a child sent from above where God chose one to give a life and another to raise with love.
