I have recently been involved in a homestudy. The study was complete and profile written. The only thing remaining was the PA state registration. However, I was told by the agency that they would be unable to work with me because of some info they received...which brings me to my question.
The reason they gave was that I was dishonest with them and they were no longer able to trust me.
I had a child live with me for a couple years. After being accused of sexual misconduct by the child, he was removed. There followed investigations by a couple of agencies and the police. They ruled it to be unfounded and and eventually the child admitted that it was done out of contempt and as a attempt to get moved back to where he was removed from in the first place. No charges were ever filed and the reports were expunged. I informed the agency doing the homestudy about the child living with me and gave the name of the social service agencies to contact to get the info or file on the details. This was done on my first home visit with the agency. They never contacted the agency about the child until my homestudy was finished, and then it was only done so they could have something on record.
The homestudy agency is saying I was hiding this information. I don't see how since there was no record of the events. Had I not told them the child was living with me they would have never known, and I gave them the agency info where they could find out what ever they wanted to know.
Anyway, they are canceling my homestudy and recording that it is due to dishonesty leading to mistrust.
Do I have any legal recourse. I was told that because of this I they were not permitted to assist me.
