We have been in the process of adopting a little girl from Haiti for a year and a half now. We finally got that peice of paper in the mail from the INS giving the approval to get a visa for our daughter. Does anyone know how long that approval is good and what amount of time is given to get a visa? Some one had told us they give a year after the petition is filed. That seems impossible though! That would be the second week of October for us and we just got the approval in the mail. There is still business to be wrapped up in Haiti so I know it is not possible to issue the visa now but how much time DO we have? Anyone know? Also, we are still waiting to hear if Haitian govt. is going to allow our adoption to take place. Since we were approved by the INS, does that mean we have been approved by Haiti. I can't get a hold of our lawyer.
Thanks!
