I'm posting here wondering if others are out there with the same situation - My son was born in NW Indiana 4/20/68. I sent for his non-id - it stated that his a/parents are both from Illinois. Where do I begin to search (as far as postings go) I continue, so far, to check both states. No replies yet, but does any one else have this situation?
Hi Janis. I'm in the same boat as you. My adopted family live in Illinois and I was born ing Indiana even though my birthmom lived in Illinois with a realative. It's very confussing to me and I want to search but it's very draining not knowing where to start.
Keep me posted ok.

Robyn,
Thank you for your reply. Have you sent for your non-id? That would be your first place to start with IN. They will add you to the state registry. I have another IN registry I can send you if you want to post. Maybe we can put our heads together and solve both puzzles.
Sounds good to me...I can use all the help I can get. I have never tried to get the records that you mentioned...how do I get them?
Thanks again for the reply..if I come across anything I'll let you know.

Contact the Indiana State Department of Health, Mary Hinds at 317-233-7253 or 317-233-7280. Ask her for the forms for you to get Identifying info, Non-Identifying Info, and the Medical History form. All you need to do is request those forms and give her your address so she can mail them to you.
Registry with it is free.
You need to register with the State Registry and need to have heard back that the other party isn't registered. After you find out that no one is registered, (abt. 6 weeks) then try and contact the agency that handeled your adoption.
Janis
Thank you so much....I had no idea that I could get andy of that stuff...thank you thank you!!!!
How is it going on your end?
I'll let you know what happened..you keep me informed too okay?.

It is my pleasure to help, if I can. I have one reunion down with two to go. It would be nice if I can help someone else's to happen. Yes, I'll keep in touch - you too. My e-mail is QVCMOM@webtv.net
Hi Janis..
I called Mary Hinds and left her a message but she never returned my call...I left my work # and my home # and got no reply...I guess I will try again Monday-Friday til I talk to someone...I get this all the time...I get a lead and then nothing comes of it...
So tell me about the first reunion and what's going on with the other 2..This all is interesting to me...even if it means I'm not suppose to find out anything about mine but I can hear about others..
Please email me. regates@hotmail.com
I am some what in the same perdicament as you are in that I know my bfather's nickname and that he was from Illinois. This is all that I have for information on him and am at a loss of where to turn at the moment. I did locate my bmother but she has since then passed on. Have you checked the adoption registry for the time period that your child was adopted to see the names of the adopting persons that might have adopted your child? I don't know if this is possible; I myself have not even tried that but am looking for a site in which I can accomplish this search. Good luck to you.

I was born in Paris Illinois, but adopted by parents that lived in Indiana. I don't know where birth parents were from. I don't know where to look.
