I have a little one who is AA and well under three years of age. I have had a difficult time finding an AA babydoll for her, that is supposed to be safe for children under three years of age.
Her grandma has tried as well, but neither of us can find one. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know...
Thanks in advance...

Linny;
I seem to recall a dollmaker in Northern California that will make any babydoll you want, go to google.com and search for dollmaker, if I find the web address I will post it for you, you may also think of contacting your local craft store and see if anyone there knows of any dollmakers in your area, if so you can help create your baby's doll, what a great project for you and your daughter.

Here's a great (and inexpensive!) collection of rag dolls of many cultures. Go to this site:

And do a search on "rag doll" and you will see. They're a bit big, but safe for babies.
Thanks to both of you! I have bookmarked the website you gave Suburbanmom.....and may see our local craft store (I live in a small town area).
I had not seen this sight......and hadn't really thought about the craft store either.
Many thanks!

I know that the little rubbery "Waterbabies" have an AA version... and they are perfect for little hands....just look somewhere like Toys 'R' Us, or a mega Wal-Mart that has a big selection...right now is a good time, cause the stores are all stocking up for Christmas. Happy Hunting!:D

As an AA, it is difficult to find quality AA dolls. Fortunately I know my community fairly well and many local business specialize in selling AA dolls.
During the holiday, beaware that the AA dolls are ordered in small quantities and are the first to go and they do not restock so shop early.

Yes, I realize this. My first child is Asian, and when trying to find dolls for her-----it was really impossible!!!!! (She's grown now....) My sister ended up having a ragdoll type doll made that looked like my daughter.
Today, in visiting a unique type children's store, there were 'real looking' dolls. They had an AA baby......but it was male.....and I really wanted a 'female'.....combined with the fact that the doll was more or less a 'white featured doll that was colored brown'........NOT what I wanted!
So.........I will continue to search locally, but certainly will consider ordering off the 'net' if the situation warrants!
Thanks!

Go to Kaybee toys, or toys r us on line. I have no problem seeing AA dolls in the store. Maybe it is where you live. My daughter is White, but because her foster sisters were AA, she has several AA dolls.
I know what you're going through. I live in a very small town and all my little girl wanted for Christmas last year was the Nutcracker prince and princess barbie. I went on line to toys r us and ordered. However just before christmas one of our grocery stores sold beautiful dolls very resonable. And to my surprise had several AA ones. Since the dolls were so special i got each of my girls one. I was in the same grocerey store yesterday, and the dolls are back.
You could check to see if any of the grocery chains in your area carry the dolls. They're called the Heritage Collection.
We bought our aa daughters the Bitty Baby doll from American Girl. It's okay for under three as long as you leave her in the sleeper and wait until she's older to buy the fancy outfits with little parts, etc.
