Where on this earth do you start searching for someone ? Why doesn't birth mothers make it a bit easier to be found, just in case their child wants to find her and why does this whole process take so long ?? I have started searching for my bmom 2 months ago, after 36 years, I am ready now. It's like deciding to cut your hair and the only appointment you can get is a week later. Yet, I understand that the whole process prepares you for meeting her, or may be not at all. Does anyone ever find them ? I actually thought I did not have much questions for her, but since I started my search, questions is all I have ?? What if and why and how etc.........
Please respond if you have any ideas on finding someone in South Africa !
You need to try via state welfare, email me if you need contact details. They are really amazing & cautious.

My daughter is 35 and as far a I know all adoptions were closed back then and the adoption agencies and the state laws here in Texas assumed (wrongly) that mothers would not want to be found.
I don't know where you were born but in Texas they did encourage paper work about family medical history that the child could access when of age when they asked the state for it. The state blotted out addressess and names. Adoption agency had us fill out a family tree with info about hair color, height, education, ocupaations etc. that kind of thing to assist inplacement. It went in my file-but identifying info was blotted out. I think but don't know that my daughter got it from the agency maybe the state.
Anyway I tried to leave in as many clues as possible- like the schools my brothers got degrees from not just the degree. Insteaad of saying someone was a preacher I named the denomination. My daughter said it helped a lot however she still hired a private detective.
I dont know where you were born and that makes a difference I thik if you recearch this site there is some information that could help you. Have you clicked onto where it says reunite?
