Adoption financing

We had to pass on a baby girl that we have waited on for almost 2 years. The reason is our agency spent part of our deposit on advertising and other expenses without telling us beforehand. Then when we finally have a placement situation we can not come up with the additional $7000. We tried to find a loan, grants, etc. We even went through the humiliation of asking different family and friends for help or direction to someone who could help. After 3 weeks of agonizing over this we had to call and say we can't...bmom is due any day now. We had bugeted for a certain amount but this was exceeding what we could do. We were told that this situation was the cheapest they would have. We have adopted through them before and didn't have this problem. We may have to forego our dream and move on. I move from anger to crying back to anger. I know this will pass and because of our highly emotional state at the moment we have decided to wait and make a decision about any future plans. We have pulled out of this agency and will be refunded the $1000 balance of our deposit. We have already spent $6000 towards our adoption expenses...why isn't there more affordable options?
