Im in the process of my homestudy. Im a single parent with grown children, youngest is 18 yrs. Im interested in a female child between 10 and 13 years of age. Everything seems to be going good. Is there anyone out there in their early 50's that can identify with my situation or has already adopted? Please let me know how it's going. Thanks

I adopted two children last August. A boy and a girl, both are aged 6 and are doing extremelely well. I have 3 bio daughters ages 3, 15 and 19.
In court, we discovered that our adopted daughter has a 13 1/2 year old sister that she is very close to. This was heart breaking for us. The girl is in a children's home in Russia. She is 13 1/2 years old and is well liked by her caretakers and her peers.
I dread being the family that broke up this sibling bond. The more we hear of the older sister, the more important it is to find a family for her. We were initially told that the girls were not close. That is far from the truth. The girls were very close. In fact, the older sister loved and cared for her baby sister.
We so much want opportunity for this young lady to come to America and have the love and opportunity of a family. If we could take on one more, I would. My husband, although senstive to the issue, feels that this woulld be taking on too much.
My agency has been the facillitator for many single mother adoptions and they really know the ropes. I am hoping that if we find a family for Ekaterina, that the agency will be considerate enough to waive some of the fees. My family is beginning an Orphan Relief Organization in which we hope to raise money to sponsor the adoption of Katya. If you truly are interested in adopting a child in this age range, don't hesitate to respond.
