I am just begining to search for foriegn adoption agencies, mainly china, but we are open to other options. Does anyone have an agency that they would reccomend in Pennsylvania.(or one they would definatly stay away from.) I am currently waiting for the agency book from icc so any other info would be appreciated.
I am also from Pennsylvania currently working on our third adoption from India. If you would be interested in that country...and would like to write for more info...my e-mail address is gkasche@usachoice.net. Congratulations on your decision to adopt. Karen...Mom to John age 16 (bio), Aaron age 13 (bio), Sejona age 6 (India), Anjali age 3 (India), and Maya age 20 months (still in India...passport needed and then we go to get her!! )

Adoptions from the Heart is a reputable agency. They are very nice and extremely helpful. We adopted through a national domestic adoption agency and there are several issues that came up during our adoption that would turn me off of another national agency were I to decide to adopt again. While we were making our decision of domestic vs. international, we asked them several questions and they were the ones who explained everything in terms I could understand as far as legal aspects of the adoptions go.
Their website is http://www.adoptionsfromtheheart.org/ and they cover both domestic and several international countries.
Thanks for the information. I'm really not sure that adoption from india is for us. I couldn't tell you why only it doesn't feel right. I'm not sure if i'm just set on China or if some cosmic force is leading me there. I would however love to hear your adoption story.
As for Adoptions from the Heart. I have heard that they are a reputable agency, but someone i accosted in the mall about her child said she wished she had gone with Holt adoption services. She kind of evaded the questions when i asked why, so i don't know her experience.
If you decide on Korea (instead) of China I would highly recommend Love the Children (Quakertown PA). We have adopted two children from this agency and found them to be very professional and had an easy and quick process. Our first child (Matt) took 9 months (1997) from start to finish and he was and is a healthy happy child. Our daughter took 5 months (in 2000) from start to finish and like her brother is happy and healthy. Both children were 4 months old when they arrived. The adoption costs are around $18,000. There is no travel required with Korea, just pick them up in NYC.
