We are hoping to adopt...my husband is a police officer. Someone told us that some birthmothers may not even look any further at us because of his occupation.......as birthmothers what is your opinion on this ...would his job make you not look at us. thanks! and Blessings to all.........

Hi, I saw your post and my husband is also in law enforcement! He is an ex-cop who is tranferring onto the state patrol. So I too am curious to hear if this is a disqualifier? I had thought of it as a plus! Atleast the birth mom knows we are stand up people and law abiding citizens right? Any thought on this issue would be appreciated! Good Luck To All!!!!!!!!

Hi ladies...
I am another hopeful adoptive mom but I just wanted to say that a close friend of ours who lives in NJ and whose DH is a state trooper has been told by a few agencies there and in other states that it may be a little harder because a bmom may think well if he's a police officer or any other job that anything can happen, which God forbid anything should, but she was told that bmoms do panci a little when they see police officer, sheriff's deputy, and she has had bmom acutally change their minds after working with them up until about a month or more before delivery because they get scared if something happens the child can possibly have one parent.
I know it was not what you wanted to hear, adoption is a hard journey to begin with, believe me I know.
Good luck and best wishes to you
Jennifer
Hi,
My husband is also a police officer. We have adopted two precious babies (both open adoptions). There most likely were some birthmothers that didn't consider us because of this. However, neither of our birthmothers saw this is a problem at all. Our second daughter's birthfather thinks that this is a good thing. He sees my husband as a protector and feels Emma is safe with us. When the situation is right, it will happen. Good luck in your search.
