I am trying to locate the adoption agency "Oklahoma state agency". I was adopted in Oklahoma in 1983 but born in texas in 1977. I was told that I was adopted thru the state. That's all they'll tell me. So I figure it has to be thru Oklahoma. But I can't find anything on the internet with that name. How can I find out where I was adopted? I need this info. to get my non-id. info.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you were born in Texas in 1977, then that's where you should look. I would check with the State Foster Care System or with the Department of Birth Records in Texas. Wherever you were born, there should be some documentation. I wish you luck! I had a baby girl born the same year here in CA. and I wish I could be of more help. Check out some of the agencies I posted previously, and ask them! NAIC (National Adoption Information Clearinghouse) should give you some sense of direction, contact anyone there, they should help but try and provide as much info as you can. Won't your adoptive parents help?

If your adoption is through Oklahoma, it is most likely (by what you stated) through the Dept. of Human Services of Oklahoma. They have a voluntary registry you can sign up with and may have non-id to give you also. I don't have the address with me now, but you can find it through almost any link to State registries. You could even find their website from a search engine if you search for: Oklahoma voluntary adoption registry, or something similar.
The registry is maintained through the Ok DHS, but any adoptee or birth parent can register even if it was a private adoption. I registered and my adoption was through an attorney only. There is a fee for registering, I think $25.00. But you can get all the info from their website.

Originally I was Texas1977girl. But I moved and got reregistered as Krystii. I had posted a thread or whatever you call it on this website. My birth mother came across it and almost exactly a year from the date that I posted something on this site... she found me. I had my birth name, birth date and where I was born so I posted on this site. She said she typed in my birth name into her search engine and there I popped up.
I have since met her. We live very far away. I have since been in touch with other birth relatives and even my birth father (and his family). It has been very emotional. More so then I ever would of imagined.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has found their birth parents or even from birth parents themselves.
I don't know where to go from now with the relationship. I have so many mixed feelings and thoughts.
It all seems so awkward and I don't even know what it must be like from their end of things.
Any reply would be so graciously appreciated.
Maybe someone out there can help. As I read all these posts I realize how so many souls are out there who are strangers but have so much in common.

I was wondering if you might be able to answer a question for me regarding education required to work in the adoption field. I have a BS in Education and would like to work in an adoption agency. AM willing to get a master's but not sure if it needs to be a MSW or can I get a MS in human services. your reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
