I have recently found out that the little boy that I gave up for adoption has been diagnosed with autism. He is big for a 2 yr old little boy. He weighs 42 lbs and is 3 feet tall.
He is extremely happy and they think he is showing signs of sezures.
I used to have sezures when I was 2 years older then he is now. Could it be that I passed it on to him? I had them for 5 years.

I am curios about the passing it down from one generation to another also. I was adopted myself 49years ago. My 2 children seemed fine, growing up. But my 2grandchildren are autistic and there is none from any other side of family, so I think it had to be my gene but not a doctor so I really don't know. Am searching for birthfamily, maybe get some answers. Good luck. Autistic children are such a blessing !!

i have a friend with an autistic child, and there is no familial history of autism in either parent's family. from what little research i have seen on autism, at this point there are many theories as to why a child might be autistic, but no definate answer as of yet. some still feel that bad strains of an infant vaccine may be a contributing factor (which would eliminate a familial link). from what i read, there is no identified link to autism. there is a lot of resaearch going on and hopefully they will find a cause so they can find a cure. good luck to your son.
