- Case #79952
Johnny is loves to play with electronics and toys. His favorites are his big Legos, i-pad and the remote control. Johnny also loves any kind of music. His favorite foods are chicken, pork chops, oranges, and sweets. Johnny is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, but this does not prevent him from being independent and doing things on his own with some encouragement and prompts. At times Johnny has expressed some specific behaviors such as scratching others, throwing items, or having a tantrum, but Johnny can easily be re-directed with another activity, food, or going for a walk. Johnny appears to respond well if he knows he will be rewarded or praised after completing a task. Those rewards can include playing with his toys or i-pad. He also loves to play with his toys and this helps calm him down when he is having difficult day. Johnny attends school, participating in a self-contained classroom to meet his specific needs. Johnny is verbal but sometimes it is very difficult to understand what he is saying, so Johnny receives speech therapy and also occupational therapy. Visit me at the Heart Gallery of the South Plains.
Johnny needs a family who is knowledgeable of and experienced in working with children with autism. He needs a family with a great deal of patience and one who will provide him a loving, nurturing, and highly structured home environment.
