Sean

from Bulgaria

Healthy, typically developing Sean was born in June 2008. He has been diagnosed with scoliosis, a congenital deformity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, and some limitations in mobility of his right leg. Sean was previously listed as a waiting child along with his two older brothers who no longer wish to be adopted. Update March 2023: Sean no longer lives in a foster family and has been moved into a group home where he does not always respect the rules but has formed attachments to certain staff members. Self-admittedly, Sean attends school only for fun and social purposes and does not like his classes. He is interested in art and soccer, but the resources of the group home, school, and town are limited, and he has few opportunities to pursue these talents. Sean communicates easily with adults and peers and likes to spend time with his friends. He is described as a very active, curious, and highly emotional teen who still requires a lot of guidance to make safe choices, respect boundaries, and give sufficient effort to his schoolwork. 2019: Sean is a calm, imaginative boy with well-developed motor skills and good hand-eye coordination. He takes pride in his accomplishments and seeks praise and interaction from significant adults. Sean tends to be shy with unfamiliar people but communicates freely with known adults and children. He shows sympathy towards others, easily makes friends, and has a strong emotional bond with his foster family. Sean participates in and often initiates group activities and games and especially enjoys soccer and playing on the computer. Sean is a 6th grade student in 2019/2020. He reads and writes and can do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. He takes care of his personal hygiene on his own and enjoys helping with chores. Sean has a positive view of adoption.
