The Vampire Diaries is a series based off of a book series by the same title by L. J. Smith. It has received many reviews and is popular among supernatural fans.

Synopsis
Elena Gilbert is a teen in small town Mystic Falls, Virginia, USA. She lives with her brother and Aunt, and attends the local high school. She meets Stefan and his brother Damon, who happen to be vampires. In the first few seasons Elena falls in love with Stefan and goes through a series of whirlwinds of vampire drama and problems because she is a human and not a vampire. As you go further into the series you discover that Elena was actually adopted and her brother, Jeremy, is her cousin. When she learns this, she also find out that her parents died after she was born and her aunt wanted to adopt her.
Review
This series is fun, has high drama, romance, and adventure. Through the discovery of her adoption Elena struggled by the surprise of the fact but still loves her aunt and treats Jeremy like a brother with him feeling the same. This supernatural show emphasizes family and friends being together and helping one another through tough times. There is mild language and sexual content.
